When Charlotte, NC native Dylan Gilbert first
started recording songs at the age of 13, they were just a patchwork
of the visions bubbling around in his head. His father's four-track
was only a temporary place for them to rest. Now at 24, Gilbert has
released 5 solo albums, 3 albums with early teenage band
Something Jed and a number of independent film scores which
delve deep into a unique indie rock sound adding touches of folk,
pop, jazz, punk and experimental musics.
Dylan Gilbert has performed over 500 concerts throughout the
east coast (including stops in New York City, Atlanta GA, Philadelphia
PA,
Nashville TN, Washington DC, Richmond VA, Chapel Hill NC etc. )sharing the stage
with national acts such as Owen Pallett (frequent collaborator of
Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear & REM), Paper Tongues, Lost In The Trees, Benji Hughes, Des
Ark, Those Darlins, The Love Language, Future
Islands, Annuals, Farewell, Hospitality and Screaming Females. As
well as noteworthy independents Allison Weiss, We Are Trees,
Sequoyah Prep School, Israel Darling and Linus Van Pelt. Gilbert also performed at the 2011
Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh NC with headliners The Flaming
Lips, Superchunk and Drive By Truckers.
Gilbert has sold over 3,000 albums independently since 2006
and in December 2010 he received the Examiner Award at the annual Charlotte
Music Awards. His music is currently available on iTunes, Amazon.com,
CDbaby.com, Rhapsody and more.
In 2012 Gilbert started a new band called HECTORINA with
longtime collaborators Zach Jordan and John Harrell III and plans to
continue releasing music as a solo artist along side this new
project.
